The Secret is the latest and by far the worst example of a HIGHLY profitable trend where self-help gurus with fabricated new age titles and little relevant education, credentials or legitimate expertise brainwash us into believing that they know what is best for us, our marriages and our families.
Often their only contribution to society is introducing some exotic sounding, new age philosophy. However, they often cleverly form an incestuous group of like-minded “experts” who cross-promote each other by swearing their success is due to following the beliefs of another member of their “cult!” All the while, they ply the airwaves jockeying for an ever-larger audience by appearing in the national media to garner third-party endorsements.
The Self-Help Movement has become the Self-Destruct Movement by diminishing or destroying our critical thinking skills to choose and evolve on our own. We have given up the freedom to build healthy lives, marriages and families based on our unique history and life experience. Instead many victims, blinded to the value of their own life experiences, are attracted to the latest secret in self-help, in an attempt to find out what they should think, feel and how they should act… this is the definition of a cult.
The solution is a return to our (common) senses! The best way out of this learned “self-helplessness” is to go cold turkey. Stop following ALL self-help gurus now. Begin, instead, to reclaim your natural, God-given ability to think for yourself. The common sense that was once readily available to all of us is still there free of charge and waiting to be applied to just about any challenge we might face in life… all you have to do is use it.
Please, let’s all work together to stop the flock of “sheepeople” who blindly move from one UNPROVEN concept to the next, looking for the answers to life’s challenges that you already possess and that is the OBVIOUS!

As some are running for the hills – declaring — well you have to Do something — Well of course you will Do something when you line up with Being and then the Doing is Inspired Doing…. and others are running away because of the Universe being seen as a Genie — Of course the Universe is a Genie as we are each our own Genies and we are creating our lives moment by moment!

When I first saw the Secret, I guess about 2 years ago.. My first reaction was; wow this is awesome for people who get in touch with Divine & Universal Laws for the first time, but there is missing a lot..=> Now, 2 years and something later I see such a Wonderful Growth in people occuring.. And yes, it’s for many who have never considered anything about the Divine & Universal a hard to get piece that you are totally responsible for everything..but it is just like that, nothing more, nothing less, it just IS.. What we are inside is what we experience on the outside. We are souls with a body to experience and it’s sooooooo important to know what we are and to get to our true selves, our light beings.. and the only to do that is to overcome this illusion and know that it’s unlimited, just like we are.. Once one has come to the conclusion of that, Everything is Possible! Everything is Unlimited when you apply all the Universal Laws… 😉 And you know what…Just when I write this message…the Radio sings…No No No, no no no… there’s no Limit… from our famous Dutch Duo..2Unlimited… I mean.. HOW WONDERFUL IS THAT??

Joe, I have to share this story, because it is true, and made me smile:grin: After spending much of my weekend being “off my axis “so to speak, and creating most of what I didn’t want, and realizing this, on Monday I set the intention to the universe to help me right my ship! What happened next after coming home at the end of the day, I found an Amazon box in the mail and was perplexed as I didn’t remember ordering anything! Can you clarify this above passage for me? I have found the studying of these universal principles have done the exact opposite for me. I accept as truth that my thoughts create my environment. So if I want to evolve on my own, I must learn to think MY OWN thoughts. In fact, The definition of critical thinking is,” the disciplined process of actively conceptualizing, analyzing, and applying information as a guide to action.”
A closed mind may be the biggest deterrent from learning to think critically. When you get down into the meat of this study you will see that much of it is the same just with different methods for use. I look at it like a grocery cart method, if I see something that I can apply into my life I take it and use it, everything else I leave on the shelf for the next person. E
So with that I wish you the best and I hope that you take the time to come to your own conclusions. I think all the best for you and I affirm that you will receive only that which you give away.

John, everyone is seeking a path in life and yes your right we should be following are own paths but last time i checked nobody is born with an instruction manual on how to live life and if our god given abilities were so great then the world would be a utopia but its not. In regards to thinking for our selfs, everyone in this world has free will. We choose to read this material for whatever reason it may be and thats the bottom line.

If we follow what is being said about the law of attraction then James Ray must have attracted the circumstance that Julie mentioned. For someone as advanced as he is on the law of attraction why would he have attracted this into his life? Some may answer that he didn’t do it consciously but must have done so unconsciously. If he can get clear on the process, what does that say? I guess he needs the key.
The last line of my previous post should have read “If he can’t get clear on the process, what does that say?”

At the time of writing, my home and office have been evacuated due to the fires raging in the San Diego area, and the James Ray International office will be closed until it’s deemed safe to return by the authorities. The website will continue operate, and I’ll post updates there as they are needed.
These are the worst fires in California history, and San Diego County’s been declared in a state of emergency.
Regardless of where you reside right now, I encourage you to take heart and realize that pain is a signal to grow instead of suffer. Yes, difficulties will come in life… And don’t get me wrong, the thought of boxing up a few valuables from my home is as unattractive to me as it is to anyone.
Regardless, it’s in the times of apparent challenge that we test who we really are. The Law of Attraction, which is so popular right now, states that you’ll attract who and what you are into your life. This doesn’t mean that we should blame ourselves for the fires raging like so many in the media have misinterpreted. Rather everything is your responsibility and nothing is your fault.
Please read that again.
If you dissect the word (response-ability), you find it really means “the ability to respond.” How we choose our responses is what we’ll continue to attract, create and become. To think that your life will be challenge free is illusion. Challenges are the way we test how much we have or have not developed our ability to respond.
I encourage you to take heart. Realize that in every challenge there is a gift. That’s why in the esoteric traditions the Philosopher’s Stone (another term for enlightenment) is always found in a pile of dung. Likewise, in Buddhism the thousand-petal lotus of enlightenment always grows from the muck and mire. Is there a metaphor here? Yes, there obviously is.
The Christian prophet stated to, “Judge not by appearances.” I encourage you in all situations in life to not to see them as a blessing or a curse. Rather, see them as an opportunity to test your level of ability to respond. To go “three for three.” Think, feel and act in accordance with what you choose versus appearances.
Ask the questions: “What does this teach me about me? What can I learn about me and the world from this situation? How can I use this situation to grow and become more?”
* Maybe it causes you to take and inventory of what’s truly important in your life…
* Maybe it connects you more deeply with your family…
* It could cause you to open your heart and realize the power of helping your neighbor…
* Or maybe it allows you to notice how your response is more empowered than in past situations…
When you find the goodness and gifts in all life’s situations, even the most difficult, the universe guarantees more goodness and gifts.

Thank you for posting James Rays response to the fires.This constant crticism of the people that are trying to teach us about the law of attraction, as if to say ha ha, that something negative has entered their realm , is merely the type of response that people who doubt the fact that it is a universal law, and don’t truly understand it, have. The Law of Attraction does not state that there will NOT be situations in our realm that may not be to our liking,nor do most of the people who understand this law feel that this knowing precludes them from ever being in situations that are less to their liking. The ability to take 100% RESPONSIBILITY for those occurences, determines the response we have. It is that responsibility to the situation that allows us the ability to view the situation in a certain manner. Is he a victim in his email? No, James took the situation, and investigated the message being sent to him by the universe and immediatly reacted with a positive. The true teachers of this law never state that that nothing adverse or less than positive will happen just because you know about the universal law, but urge you to take RESPONSIBILITY for what has been attracted to you. That in turns also makes your response to that situation your choice and your responsibility. With love and gratitude..

Great thoughts. lots of deep thinkers! I love the content and intelligent discussions! For me I have seen the results in my own life using the principals in The Secret. However I have also lived a life surrounded by people blaming others for their current reality. Often, God is tossed into that blame, and pitty pot, I think it is frequently easier to forget that we do have FREE WILL! Ask yourself, has God given you opporunities that you have chosen to overlook, pass by, or just can’t be bothered with….knock and the door shall be opened…but it is OUR CHOICE to WAlK through…God opens doors, The Secret gives us another tool to be still and open to listen and see them with or heart. So take it, or leave it…..(so awesome!) THE CHOICE IS OURS TO MAKE!

Your entry about The Key marked with date of 2007 but I just found that book on a store by chance and finally bought it. I was expecting to find it after reading The Attractor Factor. But I’m living in Istanbul/Turkey and that kind of books have had chance to be published after the exploding debut of The Secret. So most them being here late.
I just want to say I spend the last money on my pocket to The Key 🙂 I’m on some kind of starving artist mode here but I know it will worth every penny. You are my all time favorite mentor from The Secret after reading the The Attractor Factor.

I was lucky enough to read Joe´s book in Tulum, Mexico, on my holidays. So i could experience “the Key” for complete 5 days on a roll, wich ollowed me to go deep in my thoughts, following the clues ant methods. And wes Great.
Many of the things I´ve been doing unconciously, were in the book.
So i can shape my life with my own tools in orther to make my dreams come true.
My ultimate dream is to make movies with this kind of message, told through stories and characters.
I´m trying to put together my first feature film “Free me from myself!”…. wich is more or less like the cleaning methods at “The key”, free yourselk from enything that stops you from being what you really want to be.
