The Woman Who Sang Past Fear

On November 20 I held an autograph party for the release of my latest book, Attract Money Now. Despite the bad weather, some people drove hundreds of miles to the Vitale Cigar Room to meet me, talk, and get their beautiful hardcover book signed. It was a wonderful evening.

attract money now hardcover offerOne of the people who came was a young woman from my local area who I didn’t know. She had some questions. As she asked them, I kept thinking someone should film this, as her questions were sincere and perceptive. For example, she asked –

“What’s the one thing you had to change to keep stretching and succeeding?”

It was an easy answer. In my book, Attract Money Now, I say that your wealth is hiding under the very thing you are afraid to do. Face your fears and you can stretch and succeed.

Another question she asked was –

“As you grow, do your friends fall away?”

I told her yes, they often (but not always) do, but it’s a natural process. People who were best friends of mine at one level of growth just floated out of my life as I changed and evolved. There was no animosity. It just happened as an organic growth process.

She also asked –

“Do you have to learn stocks and bonds, trading, banking and real estate to attract big money?”

I told her no. I don’t know anything about trading or real estate and don’t want to. As I explain in my new book, you can attract more money by doing what you love. It helps to think like an entrepreneur but the key is in following your own passion.

She and I talked for a little longer and then, as more people came to greet me, she wandered off.

But a little later in the evening she returned with an acoustic guitar in hand. I love guitars and had to know what she was doing with one.

“I want to face my fears,” she told me. “I was wondering if I could play a song for you.”

I of course said yes.

My friend Pat O’Bryan was there.  I quickly asked him if he would film the performance. He agreed.

I guess I was expecting her to play something soft, easy, and sweet. But this woman fried the room, brought everyone to a stand still, and melted my heart as she sang an incredible aria from an Italian opera.

Her voice was stunning. I got goose bumps as she played. It was heavenly and unforgettable.  See for yourself by clicking on the below image:

Her name is Sarah Marie. You can find her music on www.cdbaby.com. She has a myspace page at www.myspace.com/sarahmariesedona

Sarah got past her fear.

All it took was a deep breath and a step forward.

What have you done to face your fears today?

What a lovely little girl! Do you know what opera that aria is from?

How would you like to see an opera where the heroine finds what she wants under the thing that she fears? An opera featuring a Goddess — with no magickal talent, much to her mother’s dismay. Of course she wants one (otherwise she’d be nothing more than a nymph), but doesn’t know what it could be. While puzzling this out, she is dragged down to Hell — literally, by the God of the Underworld, who has fallen in love with her. She is both fascinated by, and terrified of him. But it is only by facing her fears, and allowing Hades to have his way with her, that she emerges on the other side with the discovery of her True Talent: the ability to grant Reincarnation to the Ghosts of the Underworld.

She’s Persephone, and you can see and hear her wrestling with her fears at http://www.myspace.com/passionofpersephonerockopera.

I have just had a really weird experience. Today I auditioned for the lead role in La Traviata. It was my first audition for an operatic role and I knew that I just had to get up there and do it. It was highly unlikely I would get the part but that didn’t matter – what mattered was that I did it. I have a motto – Be bold! I am also accutely aware that I have to role model for my clients what I’m asking of them – getting comfortable by going out of your comfort zone. Imagine my astonishment when I saw your email in my in box titled The Woman Who Sang Past Fear! I thought you must have ESP. When I listened to the video of Sarah singing I almost fell off my chair as this is the aria that Violetta sings when she realises that she has little time left on this earth – from La Traviata! Maybe there is a special message here for me.

Thanks Sarah for your beautiful singing (and thanks Joe for sharing her performance with us).

Isn’t it amazing, when you do something to move beyond your fear, and then discover just how much the world is waiting for exactly what you have to offer. Hope to hear more of your beautiful voice in the future Sarah!

Bravo!!!! If I had a lighter I would hold it high right now. She was amazing and beautiful. How blessed you were to witness her “facing her fear.” How blessed we are to get to view it. Thank you for having the thought to have someone record this so you could share with us.
I love independent artists and CDBaby is one of my favorite places to shop.
Can’t wait to read your book and let me just add my two cents…It is a natural progression as friends fall away, I like to think of it as “seasons” in our life. But, I will say that it seems that the friends who embrace our vision and pray with us about our passion will most likely be there for us through all of the seasons.

    Wow! Very inspirational!

Let me just say that your program “The Secret To Attracting Money” led me to discover the works of Wayne Dyer and Echart Tolle, and other inspirational authors and speakers … and all these materials have taught me to live in the present and do the things which I normally wouldn’t have done because of “fear” and silly “excuses”. As a mom of 4 kids, I have set aside my own wants and dreams. But now I’ve realized that I needed to give to myself coz only then could I give and love others more. I’ve taken bold steps and I thank you, Dr. Joe Vitale. (http://jmjfamily6.blogspot.com/2009/11/i-can-ice-skate.html)

Very inspiring and encouraging, she ask to play a song and the simple answer “Yes of course” – a giving answer spiritual & giving in all great ways, is an amazing force of positive reinforcement and positive energy. As of course is the free ebook Attract Money! 🙂

Sometimes it is the small things, the simple things, we can do or very easy to forget to do, such as the giving or receiving of a genuine smile from an annoymous stranger passing on the street or holding the door open similing for the next person at the local 7 11 – those daily little “Yes of course” to others, perhaps changed their world that day, and changes mine too when I remember to be a giver of simple daily ‘yes of course”

Nice wonderful positive energy from this blog post for sure
    Thank You so much 🙂

    God Bless

Joe, I was going through the hundreds of tv channels a day or two ago when I stopped at your commercial for your new book. I believe things happen for a reason, and seeing your new book was meant for me. I have read the secret and had been practicing positive thinking, doing affirmations, and experiencing changes in my life. Then of course, life happens, and old habits creep back in. I am back on track (sort of), and looking forward to making my dreams of creating a thriving prosperous business true. Thanks for the new book and jolting me back to reality

    Hi Joe,

What remarkable synchronicities are afoot! The young lady whose singing blew you and your crowd away is my niece, Sarah Marie. She moved to Texas from Sedona, AZ while back. Her performance took me back to her final performances at Simpson College in Iowa, where she gave senior recitals in both voice AND piano over successive weekends. She stunned me then as she did in this video.

She told me she is singing at your birthday party this month! Happy Birthday, Joe!

And thank you for all your good work. All that Joe Vitale and “The Secret” stand for are rockin’ the world!

    Best wishes this holiday season,

P.S. I forgot to mention that I sang with the Minnesota Orchestra in the chorus of — guess which opera? — La Traviata.! Whew, the goosebumps, and the tears, are flyin’ today.

I am a blessed Canadian sitting in a hotel room in Shanghai, breathing in the magnificient, miracle moment of realizing the true power of the Divine. Two weeks ago not a cent in my pocket on the utter verge of disperation of losing my company and my peace of mind to being on the very penacle of manifesting my wildest dreams fullfilled. I had to be brought to my knees in order to learn to look up again and within. The miracles started a couple of months ago with a one single unselfish act from a friend, who shoved a book in my hand and a CD. The CD was of Dr.Joe Vitale and the book was “The Secret”. One small miracle after another has me again on my knees, however this time its with total graditude and awh. I chuckle as I’m writing this knowing that one day another miracle will happen where I can shake the hand of Dr. Joe Vitale and graciously say “Thank you for being human”. One day in the not so far future we will write a book together. God Bless All !
