Written so well you feel you are in the room. All about self-empowerment and personal responsibility. Itâll make you squirm.
Total Recall by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Incredibly terrific. Even âFantastic!â I hyperventilated reading this autobiography by the bodybuilder, movie star, governor and more. He learned his hardcore rules for success in the gym, and applies them to everything. Exciting.
I, Mammal by Loretta Breuning. Enlightening. Read all of her books. She basically points out that you are a monkey with a reactionary monkey brain. As soon as you realize it, and with awareness and discipline, you can become less a monkey and more an awakened ape.
You Are the Placebo by Joe Dispenza. The author explains how it is possible to heal many âincurablesâ with thought alone, by detailing how the mind influences everything. In a way, this is a manual on how to create the placebo effect as needed. Fascinating.
The Elements of Eloquence by Mark Forsyth. Fun, funny, flippant. It will spin your writing into a spell generator. (âSpellâ as in âIâll put a spell on you!â) This charming book demonstrates the elements of eloquence while explaining them.
The Magic Power of Emotional Appeal by Roy Garn. I love this book so much I buy every edition I find and have read it a dozen times. Garn reveals that we are all emotionally led by the nose, and shows how to use that fact to influence others. A gem.
The Third Door by Alex Banayan. When you want to achieve a goal, most people make a straight line to the front door. They do what everyone else does. Others join the inner circles of the influencers who might help them get what they want. But what if the front door is locked and the inner circle is barred? You look for âThe Third Door.â Anything is possible, but you may have to open the third door. Terrific book.
The Law of Success by Napoleon Hill. Get the 1928 (not 1925) version of this massive work by the famous âThink and Grow Richâ author. This was his magnum opus. Everything you need to know about success is here. Devour it.
The Science of Storytelling by Will Storr. Let me tell you a storyâŠYou buy, sell and share with stories. The better the story, the better the result. This brilliant book opened my eyes to how our minds work, so we can better communicate in a way that gets the results we want. Loved it.
Ego Is the Enemy by Ryan Holiday. I hate the title. But Iâm sure thatâs my ego objecting to it. Holiday has single handed brought Stoicism to the masses. All three of his philosophical books are brilliant, including The Obstacle Is the Way and Stillness Is the Key.
The Will to Live by Dr. Arnold A. Hutschnecke. This 1951 masterpiece reveals that your unconscious mind is running the show. You may not achieve what you want due to subconscious influences. This riveting book demonstrates how the inner mind works, and helps guide you to clearing the hidden blocks to freedom.
The Robert Collier Letter Book by Robert Collier. Hands down the single most powerful book on copywriting. The metaphysical author was a legendary copywriter. His samples may seem dated but Iâve modeled many of my most successful letters on his work. Pure gold.
The Nature of Personal Reality by Jane Roberts. This is the âchanneledâ book that started it all. Itâs big and detailed and was the first to introduce me to beliefs and how they create reality. The ghostly âSethâ may or may not be the source, but the wisdom is practical and head spinning.
Rejection Proof by Jia Jiang. I stopped worrying about being rejected after reading this book. Great stories. Great fun.
The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles. Old (1910) but relevant. It inspired the movie âThe Secretâ but itâs more practical than woo-woo. Read it with focus to understand it.
The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga. A runaway bestseller in Asia. About understanding that you are a meaning creating machine. Change the meaning, change your life. Be ready to be fully you.
Sanity, Insanity, and Common Sense, a 1987 book by Rick Suarez, Roger Mills and Darlene Stewart. A few gems from the book reveal its depth: âThe fact is that in separate realities, everyone is right and everyone is telling the truth as they see it.â âStress is a byproduct of thinking; it is not inherent in situations or circumstances.â âA reality is an apparency. It is how something appears to be.â
Pollyanna by Eleanor Porter. Yes, I saw the movie too, but did you read the book? This 1913 classic is delightfully written with all the energy of an action movie, and at the same time brilliantly conveys one of the simplest and most profound self-help methods of all time. Read it and learn how to play The Glad Game, too. Entertaining, profound and not just for kids.
The Power of Neuroplasticity by Shad Helmstetter. Conversational guide on how to scientifically use your brain to achieve goals. Based on solid research. Genius.
The Practical Visionary by Corinne McLaughlin. Offers overwhelming proof that every social problem you can name is being addressed. While the mainstream media rarely nods in the direction of the good deeds people are doing, seeing all this evidence for the positive is wonderful. Shows you how to be a practical visionary, too. Inspiring. Refreshing.
The Yamas & Niyamas by Deborah Adele. A spiritual masterpiece. Explores how to use the ten ethical guidelines of yoga practice to have a meaningful life. Beautifully written with examples that bring the tenets to life.
Stratagems by Frontinus. Written in the first century AD by a General from ancient Rome, this fascinating collection of true stories reveals creative military strategies from Greek and Roman history. Very readable, surprising and entertaining.
Personality Isnât Permanent by Benjamin Hardy, Ph.D. Empowering. Liberating. The idea of making choices now that my âFuture Selfâ will thank me for later is enough to recommend this great book, but thereâs far more juice in it, all about breaking free of mental limits. Read it.
Thereâs A Customer Born Every Minute by Joe Vitale. Forgive the self-promotion but many business people (like Dan Kennedy and Mark Joyner) worship this book about the ten proven methods of the titans of modern history, especially the outrageous P.T. Barnum.

Most people know that giving can lead to receiving. But most people do it wrong. I discovered a specific way of giving that has brought me millions of dollars. It helped me become a billionaire before I reached the age of 35. Let me tell you how I used this method to attract my first million dollars.
I am originally from Sweden. I moved to Thailand at the age of twenty to find my way in the world. But before I made any money, I became homeless. As I dug myself out of that dire situation, I noticed that Thailand has unique views about giving.
In Thailand, for example, on your birthday you donât receive gifts, you give them. That was entirely new to me. But I started practicing it. As I gave more, I received more. As I gave more money, I received more money. I became fascinated and decided to experiment with this apparently magical law of giving. I wanted to see how it works, and if I could improve it.
The way most people give â if they give at all â is by tithing. That is the traditional way of giving ten percent of your income to a religious organization. Most religions teach that you need to give ten percent of the money you receive as a form of âpaymentâ to God. While that has worked for centuries, and I have no argument with it, itâs not the way I do it.
Others have learned that giving money to any source that has inspired them will trigger a force that brings more money back to them. Dr. Joe Vitale, one of the teachers in the movie The Secret, tells people to give ten percentage of their income to wherever they receive spiritual nourishment or inspiration. That could be an Uber driver, a waiter, someone you meet at the store who says encouraging words, or an organization or anything else. I like this idea because it opens up the possibility of giving to others, including but not limiting to a church.
The trouble is, post people give only money and expect only money in return. While that works, itâs a limitation. The Universe (whatever you choose to call The Great Mystery of life) may have something better for you, but you limited the road back to you by insisting that what you get back is money. In my experience, the Universe may have many other gifts waiting for you, not just money, but your expectation of receiving only money is blocking the other good you could receive.
My own method is more refined and more focused. And it doesnât always have to do with giving away money. In short, Iâve discovered that the emotion you feel as you give anything at all is what you will receive back. This is far more important than you may realize. If you feel hate as you do anything, you are setting up an âattractor fieldâ to experience hate later. If you feel love as you do something, you are also engaging in a principle to attract love back to you later.
When I wish someone a good day, I do it with genuine feelings of wanting him or her to have a good day. Most people say, âHave a good dayâ with no feeling at all. Itâs automatic. Itâs dead. But I say it wanting to change the emotion of the person hearing it. I truly want them to have a good day. The feeling I give out as I say the words is one of love. As a result, what I expect to get back sometime later is the feeling of love. It may come as great news about a project, or a check, or a profitable idea, or a new connection, or some other reason to celebrate. But I give out love and what I get back is love.
In other words, when you give money, feel ecstatic as you do so and what you will receive in return is something with the feeling of ecstasy attached to it. That may be a return in the form of money. But it could be anything else. It could surprise you. It could be something unexpected, and not just money. What you gave was some emotion, so what you receive will be the same emotion, but multiplied at least ten times.
Iâve learned that this âvibrational givingâ or âfrequency givingâ is the real secret to making giving work. While giving anything is a good policy, giving with conscious awareness of your emotions will bring wealth beyond all imagination.
Now let me share my story of making my first million dollars with this method.
Many years ago I visited an orphanage in Thailand. It was sad because all the kids had HIV. They didnât have any government support and they were struggling. I wanted to help. I agreed to paint the building, all the rooms, and give the kids toys. I didnât do it to receive money. I did it because I felt great in helping.
And thatâs the secret to giving: feeling. How you feel when you give is what you will receive in return. Emotion creates vibration. And you canât create anything without emotion. Unfortunately, most people arenât aware of their feelings when they do anything, let alone when they give.
While I had been visualizing making my first million dollars, I also didnât know how it would happen. But when I was at that orphanage, I didnât think spending money there would bring me a million dollars later. All I knew is the kids need help and it would make me feel good to help.
So I invested about eighty thousand dollars in hiring people to paint and rebuild the place. I felt great as I paid for the services. Again, I was using âvibrational givingâ as my tool. I knew that the feeling I felt as I gave is what I would get in return later, in some unexpected way. There was nothing calculating in my action. I didnât give money to get money.
Instead, I did something that made me feel great, and I expected something to happen later that would also be a great feeling. But money wasnât the focus. I just made sure to feel great. While eighty thousand was about a fourth of my yearly revenue at the time, spending it didnât make me feel stretched or worried. It made me feel good.
As a result, a real estate deal I had in the works went through. I closed a property worth so much that my commission was more than one million dollars. In fact, it was one million plus about eighty grand. So I not only made my first million, but I also got my investment back.
And how did I feel? Fantastic, of course. The feeling I had when I invested in helping the orphanage (feeling great) came back to me to multiplied (feeling fantastic). I copied that check, framed it, and still look at it every day. I still feel great every time I see it.
Mother Teresa had it right when she said, âIt is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving.â
Again, this isnât only about money. Itâs about what you feel as you give anything. The feeling you give out is what you will receive back. Practicing this âvibrational givingâ works for me, and will work for you, too. Try it and see.
