I am on my back recovering from an emergency operation.
I’m typing this on my trusty Blackberry, which is about the only thing that didn’t break down on me last weekend.
My main computer quit. My laptop quit. And all of my websites stemming from www.mrfire.com went down.
None of the above were connected in any way at all.
On Monday I went back into the recording studio to complete reading of my book Buying Trances.
But I did it in a lot of pain. By that night the stomach cramps were far worse.
I called my friend who is an M.D. And he sent me to ER. They ran tests and then scheduled me for an appendix removal. They did it too. It was my first ever surgery and first ever hospital stay.
I’m glad to be home.
I’m in pain and can’t move much but all in all, all is well
What I find most interesting about all of this is my own attitude.
I was never angry or frustrated. I was more curious.
I’m reading a book called Choosing Reality. Its a Buddhist view of physics and the mind. I can’t say I understand it but I can say I love my curious view of the bumps in life.
After all, I have much to be grateful for.
My father’s appendix burst when he was ten. He was in the hospital 21 days with three tubes coming out his stomach to drain all the poison.
I am VERY lucky.
Friends sent me emails and amazon gift certificates. Pat O’Bryan even sent a note to his entire list about me.
I am VERY grateful.
No one knows what an appendix is for. Alan Abel once said on a radio show he thought it was a spare penis.
I LOVE humor.
Thank you for your love and support. I should be back online soon.

I had my appendix taken out when I was 7 or 8. It exploded and I had to driven to the nearest hospital which was 45 minutes away as I lived on the edge of the bush in Alaska.
After the post operation pain you will not have any side effects. Just a scar which you can show off as a battle scar which you won. And now you can go out in the remote parts of the world and not have to even think about your appendix exploding.
All is love,
Chris

You’re a lucky guy indeed, Joe. Glad to hear you’re on the road to recovery. Gratitude is everything. FurthermoreāI wish I knew who said thisā”Everything will be all right in the end. If it’s not all right, it’s not the end.”
Healing wishes,

Hi Joe,
I’m increasing my healthy vibes in your direction right now – get well soon, you’re an inspiration and the world will be much better with you back on your feet.

Dear Joe!
it is amazing if you can stay with that attitude!
The buddhist teaching is, that you can only be happy if you watch from a detached point of view, accept what is happening and don’t judge.
But I find that very hard to do when terrible things happen. Maybe that is the greatest challenge?
We wish you a quick recovery!

Hey Joe!
I’m glad to hear you’re doing well, and always grateful. š
I’m grateful for all the inspiration and guidance you’ve given me over the past few years.
Reading *many* of your books, and your blog posts, and seeing you in The Secret has been an amazing learning and growing experience.

Hey Joe, glad to hear you are recovering. I was 10 when mine went crazy and I too spent 3 weeks in the hospital. I liked the hospital so much that I didn’t want to leave the safe feeling it gave me.
I believe the appendix was created in order for surgeons to evolve to the levels we are seeing today. They needed a place to start that could define their futures so after their first appy…they are baptised in surgery and are in a position to make a decision about the profession.
Take Care of yourself and I can’t wait for “Zero Limits” to come out.

If you need anything, give me a call, 361-356-6617.
I moved down to Corpus Christi from Alsaka which is where I was the last time we talked. I’m only a few hours away now š

Dr. Joe,
When I had my emergency appendectomy, I was in my early 40’s. The doctors told me that it was rare for someone my age to have appendicitis, since the majority of such operations are done on 18 year old males during the summer.
So, I guess we are both outside of the “norm”, which is just fine with me. I imagine it’s alright with you too! (<; I had initially thought it was bad Chinese food and actually went to a concert the day before my operation – despite my bad “stomach ache”. Fortunately, mine didn’t burst. I’m glad yours didn’t either. Even with antibiotics, things could go south in a jiffy when that happens. Also fortunate, is your fairly recent weight loss – congrats. If you were still carrying that excess weight, your recovery would be longer and the chance of adhesions in the future would increase. So, in a month or so you’ll be back to doing some low-level ab work as part of your workout. And a month after that all you’ll have is a battle scar to show for it. Be well, Russ
Hey Joe!
It’s encouraging to see that you’re taking a very positive approach to some of the “negative” things happening in your life. I look forward to hearing how these things turn out to be blessings.
However, that’s not what impresses me the most! What impresses me the most is how adept you are at typing with your Blackberry! š
It’s truly amazing how often your name and your works are finding their way into my life right now. I guess I’m just finally ready to receive them.
Wishing you a quick recovery!

You’re a lucky guy indeed, Joe. Glad to hear you’re on the road to recovery (which was true even before you fell “ill”).
Gratitude is everything, isn’t it? FurthermoreāI wish I knew who said thisā”Everything will be all right in the end. If it’s not all right, it’s not the end.”

Hi Joe:
Glad you are on the mend.
I first got wind of this from Pat OBryan’s email.
You and I have never met but I have several of your books and I am always happy to see you in my inbox.
I noticed something that may or may not have occurred to you.
First let me say that I feel that people who vibrate at a pretty high amplitude around the law of attraction, generally need to pick and choose their words very quickly.
As above, so below, and what is showing up around us is usually coming from within. However in this case it was in print on your Saturday blog:
“major surgery to fix”
“turned me inside out”
Nothing for you to do about it now except have a good laugh.
Blessings-
Pat Butterfly

The e-mail that got me to your blog today was an hypnotic masterpiece.
“Subject: I’m home and recovering”
Hmmm. What happened! Oh my, curiosity, I just have to know.
Got the heads up on Joe Sugarman. Thanks. I will watch.
So, what does the man who understands Luke 12:4 do?
He becomes Reed Icculus.

These days you have to be careful even mentioning that you have an appendix problem in public.
Got this pain…they say it’s my appendix…it might explode.
EXPLODE!!!
Then you’ve got the bomb squad, homeland security, CIA and God knows who else descending on you.
Just as well you weren’t in an airport.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Kindest regards,
Andrew Cavanagh
Had a major operation when I was 20. Considered myself lucky to see my 21st birthday 2 months later. The pain stayed for a few years. it only left when I began to accept what happened and took a more positive attitude towards it all. And began to imagine myself as healed even though I was still in pain. A good attitude is everything I think.
Dear Joe, you have an amazing, great attitude. I’m sure that you’ll recover fast and be in even better shape than before. And help a even more people too while you’re at it!
Just relax and let your body do its work…and maybe you’d want to keep a little notebook next to you to jot down all the ideas that your mind is going to come up with while your body is relaxing š

Here’s a thought all the way from Sweden. You inspire me a lot in my writing and maybe I pick up your thougths sometimes, because without looking at your blog, I find that we wrote about the same thing! How cool is that!
I wish you a safe recovery, Joe. Thank you for the inspiration!
