Reading Garrett Gunderson’s excellent book, Killing Sacred Cows, on overcoming the financial myths that are destroying your prosperity, got me thinking of other money myths. For example:

Saving is not as powerful in attracting money as giving. The more money you give, from a heart of love and to wherever you feel inspired, the more you will receive.

Stocks are not as secure as acting on ideas. Money making ideas are gifts from the Universe; act fast on them and you can prosper fast.

Planning for your retirement isn’t as powerful as living now with an awareness of your future. Putting off your enjoyment of life is pushing away your current prosperity.

Investing in real estate isn’t as rewarding as investing in yourself. The more you expand your awareness and education, the more you can see the opportunities to make more money.

Beliefs such as money is the root of all evil block prosperity. The lack of money is actually the root of all evil. Being detached but respectful toward money will help you attract it.

Scarcity is a function of the mind; so is abundance. Human creativity can solve any problem and find ways to profit along the way.

Practical spending isn’t as wise as enthusiastic spending. When you buy something that helps you feel good, you increase your energy vibration, feel better about yourself, and tend to do more things to make more money.

These are just random thoughts, not a dissertation. I encourage you to read Gunderson’s book and explore your own beliefs about money. (Be sure to check out his 401k hoax.)

Hello!!! I beleive all things that you want come much more quicker when you are “IN-Spirite” or inspired. Money, success, health, great relationships, even a Rolls-Royce Phantom, and the list goes on and on. So the question you have to ask yourself is “do you know what it feels like to be in-spirit or inspired? Most likely the answer is yes, but the more important question is how much are you in a state of inspiration? I just received an e-mail from you Joe, about the Rolls-Royce Master-Mind event and even though I am not going, just the idea of it and the way you wrote it put me into a remarkable state of inspiration. And because of that every minute is getting better and better. This is key to getting what you want, the more you are in-spirit the more you are in-spirit and that is only going to manifest dreams, love, amazing relationships, and even the “knowing” that someday very soon I will meet you and be in a constant vibration of complete bliss!! This is the energy I need to be around!! Thanks!! I’m here all week!!

I really like what you said. People often have a complex relationship with money. They want it but at the same time feeling guilty for wanting it. No wonder only 5% of people get rich.

    Keep up the great work.

    Joe,

I like that lack of money is the root of all evil belief. I know that growing up, my father taught me to save money. For example my haircut was $16 last week. I gave the barber an $8 tip. Could that be counted as giving?

    Joe,

This is the most powerful advice I’ve seen for dealing with all the junk floating around about the current economic “crisis.” Too many people are just reacting to the negative reports rather than taking positive action themselves.

    Thanks for the excellent suggestions.

    Joe,

Thanks for another heads up on what looks like a great read. I love you blog for the positive energy you throw out to the universe, but my favorite part of the whole thing is the book “reviews”. Thanks again,

As most crisis situations, whether personal, national or global, the feeling of doom and gloom seem to be contagious. Your insights are like a life jacket in the middle of a huge storm, thank you!!!

    Hello Dr.Vitale

I have this difficulty to integrate what you teach and that of Robert Kiyosaki. Can you tell me what the common ground is? It appears that your goodself and Mr.Kiyosaki are polar opposites. 😐

    Phillip,

Dr. Vitale and Mr. Kiyosaki have one thing in common. They like to challenge your thinking.

    Hi!
I agree with you on all of that.
Money should be looked at as a mean not a goal.
Our focus should be on what we want, not on just having money.
It is just a mean, a secondary or tertiary thing to think about.
As a matter of fact, I am almost sure yourself don’t think much about money.
The more we think about money, in my experience, the less it shows up.
But the more I think about things to do or buy, and the more money shows.
Instead of thinking or saying money, we should focus on our present moment action,
our objectives, and not get lost in the “money mind warp.”

I totally agree that we have to be detached from greed but treat money with respect. For me money can be either your best friend or your worst enemy. Nut I still feel guilt when I spend my money on something that I like but don`t need. Could you give me some advice on how to get rid of this feeling?

More great stuff. As an entrepreneur I find it critical that I stay focused on the *truth* about abundance and not let my mind wander to things like worry and lack.

I create my own salary, my own bonuses, etc. so I really must stay tuned in to the positive vibrations at all times or I’m in big trouble. Thanks for sharing your wisdom Dr. Vitale!

Changing my beliefs about money has made a huge impact on my life. I didn’t realize until I truly started listening to the background noise in my mind that I even had negative beliefs about money. Once I was consciously aware of my jealousy towards those with wealth and my belief that wealth was not for “people like me”, I began to manifest more income. I literally now get money from totally unexpected places and it always seems to come at the perfect time. Thanks to teachers like you, Joe, I have been able to put aside so many of those finance myths. Thank you!
