joe-safe.jpg  When I spoke at the World Wellness Weekend in Austin last month, dozens of people gave me samples of their health products. They all wanted me to try them and, they hoped, endorse them.

But no one person can ingest all the products they gave me. Besides being no way to track how any one product worked (or not), the mix of all of them could be scary.

So I politely refused all of them.

Except one.

A woman told me about a product that she said stimulated the growth of adult stem cells.

Stem cells have the remarkable potential to develop into many different cell types in your body. Serving as a type of repair system, they can theoretically divide without limit to replenish other cells.

I didn’t understand it at first. But there was something about the woman’s manner and sincerity that made me pay attention.

She explained that the product is a natural stem cell enhancer.

It’s botanical extract, meaning it is derived from a plant.

It stimulates stem cells in your bone marrow, which we have plenty of, which then travel throughout your body to support optimal organ and tissue function.

In short, and to put it in my own words, the herbal based natural product urges stem cell growth, which then can go where they are needed most in your body.

You might want to re-read that and pause for a moment.

This natural product appears to stimulate stem cell growth, which then can go where they are needed in your body.

I had heard about the controversy over embryonic stem cells, but this product has nothing to do with that. This is all about stimulating the natural release of your own adult stem cells.

This was getting interesting.

The kind lady before me gave me a sample box of the product. But something in me urged me to buy several bottles.

After all, I wanted to truly try this product – not for a day or a week, but for a month.

If it worked, I wanted to use it all the time, and I wanted to tell others about it.

Which brings me to you.

I’ve been on the product well over a month now. The company suggests you take two capsules in the morning. But I wanted speedier results, so I took two in the AM and two in the PM.

Nothing happened the first two weeks, but I took it as an experiment, to see what would happen, if anything, and of course hope for the best.

I got better than the best.

At the two week mark I woke up one day and all my health concerns were virtually gone.

My asthma/breathing concerns were gone.

My allergies were virtually all gone.

My anxiety attacks were totally gone.

My aches from weight lifting were all gone.

Even my food sensitivities began to disappear.

What happened?

I was still skeptical, but I wanted to investigate the product even deeper. So I wrote to the woman who sold me the bottles to begin with, and she put me in touch with the scientist who had co-discovered the product.

He’s a brilliant man from France, and was very generous with his time with me. He pointed out most of what I wanted to know was on the company’s website, here.

I went and looked. I saw the information, digested it, did a little more research on stem cell enhancers, and decided this was the product for me to endorse.

I knew many people would still be skeptical, despite my own personal story, but the company has a smart way for you to prove whether the product will work for you or not.

You simply track your progress online with a tool that is eye-opening.

It’s called the SQOLA and it’s free.

So if you’re skeptical, but still hoping something will help you with your health, use the SQOLA to document your progress. It’s explained at –

http://mrfire.stemtechhealth.com/sqola/answer.aspx

stemenhance.bmp

Finally, after researching the company and all the quack sites that blow the whistle on dubious claims, I joined the company as a distributor. (For only $25.)

I think the approach of having people who believe in the product actually profit from telling others about it is practical and wise. It’s a win-win-win. You can join, too, under me, by going to —

http://mrfire.stemtechbiz.com/bus_opp_sub.aspx

I’m not a medical doctor or scientist. I don’t believe this is a magic pill that will cure everything, especially emotional problems (though the product helps with moods).

But I’ve shared this story with you because I know how important your health is. Without it, you can’t easily enjoy life or accomplish much.

If you or someone you know wants to feel better, or just wants to support their health and well being, please send them over to —

http://mrfire.stemtechbiz.com/product_1_sub.aspx

I’m not allowed to say and can’t ethically state that this is the cure for all health problems, but I firmly believe it can help.

Check it out.

Hey, Joe! I love the energy you put into the world and the way you’ve connected with many of us to help improve our lives by the law of attraction and other ways. Thank you! I read your post/email on StemEnhance with eagerness, due to some health issues I’ve had over the past few months that traditional medicine just isn’t figuring out. I was filling out the forms to order this product when I clicked on the link to see what the ingredients were. Didn’t understand the long name, so I Googled it. As I’m sure you researched, it is a blue-green algae extract. That’s fine, I’ve eaten other supplements with spirulina and other beneficial algae before. But then I read an article by a Vermont holistic doctor and medical director of an alternative medicine clinic (so he’s not anti-alternatives) who made a convincing case that this particular alga poses more health risks than potential benefits. I know there’s debate about all sorts of alternative products, but the issues he raises made a lot of sense and I am going to hold off on trying it myself. I wanted you to take a look at this and see what you think: http://www.tldp.com/issue/167/algae.html

    All the best,

Hi Jen. I admire that you do your home work. Good for you. That’s wise. I know the company has been selling their product since about 2005, with no problems that I’m aware of. I don’t personally know the person who posted their comment on the link you gave, and am not a scientist or medical doctor, so can’t comment on it. All I know is the product appears to work for me, and others. Of course, follow your own inner guidance and do what’s best for you. Thanks for commenting.

    Hi Joe,

I must admit I am more than slightly amused at your entry into the MLM business. Joe building a downline, who would have guessed it? lol!

I too saw another article on this Algae, it is Klamath Lake algae, by the way. This company is just using the technical name. This is from a detailed write on algae’s on something called The Body. They discuss this algae with:

“The Klamath Lake blue-green algae has the scientific name Aphanizomenon flos-aquae. It is not the same as Spirulina. There are serious concerns about the safety of eating Aphanizomenon flos-aquae 5, because it can sometimes contain potent nerve toxins. While the scientific literature is full of information concerning the toxicity of Aphanizomenon flos-aquae and its dangers to humans and animals, there are few, if any, peer reviewed scholarly scientific papers regarding therapeutic benefit. In contrast, the scientific literature is full of information concerning the benefits and safety of humans and animals eating Chlorella and Spirulina 4. ”

As someone who is pretty active in Health food and vitamin buying and communities on and offline, I have heard recommendations to use this algae with caution or to avoid it. I never paid much attention because I use other algaes.

It is possible that the extracts StemTech has isolate do not contain the potent nerve toxins. I would love to see what StemTech has to report on their particular version with relation to this issue.

I also want to extend my love and support to you as you wait for news on your feline best buddy. I hope all turns out well!

P.S. Pardon the typos, etc. up above. It’s easy to miss things when typing in a little box!

After reading Jen’s link – I am wondering if Cell Tech is/was somehow related to Stem Tech? A prior name of the same company? After all, both are Multi Level Marketing companies promoting the same Aphanizomenon flos-aquae algae. Strikes me as coincidental.

Jen’s link is pretty scary too.

Oh Joe, I am really sorry to report this. But Cell Tech, who had dubious business dealings and issues with the toxicity of their product, is the same company. Jen’s article by a doctor (which is peer reviewed) specifically identifies the same Christian Drapeau (the guy behind the science). “Christian Drapeau, Cell Tech’s Director of Research” and it goes on to cite Cell Tech’s and even their predecessor (another name it seems) less than desirable behavior.

I am surprised you missed this. There are many interesting statements in there that I won’t elaborate on here, but I do recommend that people do take a look at this article prior to making up their mind to consume this supplement or sell it to others. http://www.tldp.com/issue/167/algae.html

Joe, please consider cutting back to the 2 recommended capsules. If it the possibility of it containing toxins exists, you are doubling your risk by taking more than the recommended dose. Would like to have you around another 40 years or more!

    In Joy and Gratitude,

    Amy

Hi Amy. I didn’t miss anything. As I said in my blog, I already researched the company, the product and even communicated with the scientist behind it all. Saying the company used to be CellTech is a little like saying I used to work for Exxon so don’t deal with me. A new company is a new company. The past does not equal the future. At any rate, if the past alarms you, then please don’t use the product, as you’ll just attract problems with it. I appreciate the loving concern and know it comes from a good place.
    Blessings,

I feel the need to re-iterate the old (mostly unheeded) warning of check with your doctor before taking any nutritional supplements. Also, caution is warranted as noted by the previous comment from JEN.

Check out the conclusions from the following study-

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15210464?ordinalpos=21&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum

“CONCLUSIONS: Immunostimulatory herbal supplements may exacerbate preexisting autoimmune disease or precipitate autoimmune disease in persons genetically predisposed to such disorders. Increased production of TNF-alpha may play a role, although more research is needed to clarify the mechanisms of such phenomena.”

In that study, on of the patients had ingested the ingredient in StemEnhance (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae), but also Spirulina platensis…so it’s tough to say which had the most effect. One thing that came to my mind is that these ingredients must really be doing something if it caused this sort of result…

I decided to study further and did find several studies with very positive results for this ingredient on PubMed. The study results indicated positive NK (Natural Killer Cell) activity, increased Antioxidant properties and a study backing up the mobilization of Stem Cells by the ingredient in Stem Enhance.
One of the particiapants/researchers listed in the latter study was – Drapeau, C.. I then did a search for studies with this person as a participant and found 16 studies completely unrelated compounds/substances
(Interestingly, Dr. McPartland was involved in 131.)
Unfortunately, Dr. McPartland is right about these herbs being easy carriers as the detection of toxigenic cyanobacteria in supplements manufactured for human consumption has been documented (another study I found- Multiplex PCR for the detection of toxigenic cyanobacteria in dietary supplements produced for human consumption). “This technique was found to be useful for detecting the presence of toxigenic Microcystis in all dietary supplements produced from the nontoxic cyanobacterium Aphanizomenon flos-aquae.”
The other thing to consider is where this stuff is grown and what quality controls are used to manufacture it. One of the lakes that is a common harvesting point is Upper Klamath Lake (UKL) in southern Oregon, where the growth of a toxic BGA, Microcystis aeruginosa, is a regular occurrence.
Also, it should be noted that BGA products and other dietary supplements are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) under the 1994 Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA). Under this law, the manufacturers of dietary supplements can market their products without having to demonstrate the product’s safety to the FDA.

Anyone concerned about toxicity of blue-green algae and the history of StemTech as a company should read the FAQ on the website. At the bottom of the page, Christian addresses a lot of these common questions:

    http://mrfire.stemtechbiz.com/FAQ_sub.aspx

First of all, I’ll state my bias. My first experience with blue-green algae was amazing. Within days, I saw a healing process begin in my body — for example, scars disappearing that had been there for 15 years. Over the last few years, I’ve met more and more people who have had incredible results from StemEnhance which effectively concentrates the power of the algae. I’ve also met some people who have had no results. I would say the former out number the latter 9 to 1.

I think it really important to research independently, especially when presented with a new product. The issue of toxicity with blue-green algae *in certain situations* is one of ongoing study across the world and I think one needs to be careful what one reads: often opinions are expressed instead of empirical results. As my professors in university drilled into me, to understand someone’s point or argument, you really need to look at their sources so you can understand the conclusions and interpretations that they are making. The internet makes it easy to find published opinions but not so easy to find published studies and research. As much as McPartland and others express their opinion about toxicity and algae, does any of those weigh more than the factsheet from the University of Purdue that states “it is extremely rare for [anabaena, aphanizomenon, and microcystis] to cause toxicity? (http://www.btny.purdue.edu/Pubs/APM/blue-green_factsheet.pdf).

A lot of the toxicity concerns about blue-green algae have to do with eutrophication — situations where blue green algae blooms as a result of nutrient loading of water bodies. This is a man-made situation where runoff from urban or agricultural areas will lead to excess nitrogen in bodies of water. Because of this loading, algae blooms, and when it dies it can make these bodies of water toxic to animals or fish. It is important to understand the the algae in Klamath Lake has been in process long before settlers came to the lake, due to the naturally nutrient rich nature of the waters in that area. (http://oregonstate.edu/dept/kes/sr1023nutrientloading.pdf). The algae that is harvested for StemEnhance is taken from the center of the lake where it is freshest and healthiest. Problems that arose in the past with other companies involved using algae that was gathered from canals that ran off the lake — not of the optimal quality as that used for StemEnhance. This is to say nothing of the strict quality measurements and testing that take place every day.

The PubMed index that is listed above makes an important point that is repeated through many studies but not often understood: that of statistical correlation (“flares correlated with ingestion of herbal supplements”). In fact, understanding statistical correlation means that the conclusion drawn at PubMed doesn’t really mean anything. That patients had problems while taking herbal supplements does not mean that the herbal supplement in any way was related to the onset of those problems. No cause and effect has been established. To use a simplified analogy, it’s like saying watching television may increase your cholesterol count. It’s a ridiculous statement. Now, people who watch a lot of television may have high cholesterol but that would be a function of lots of television taking the place of exercise and proper diet. That does not mean that a television directly affects the cholesterol in your body.

There are a great many people who can attest to the power of StemEnhance. And there are a very few people out there trying to make the case that blue-green algae is toxic while being bombarded with testimonial after testimonial of its amazing properties. At the end of the discussion we are each free to make our decision. The question may be whether our decision is based on the assurance of our manifestation of good health or on the fear of something we do not understand and have not tried. In the end, it is as it should be — we will each be guided in the ways that we need to be.

Just to prove the point, I know a couple who each took 80 capsules in one day. They had no adverse effects; they just felt very happy for a long time. The recommended dosage is two capsules at once. If one has a particular issue that one wishes to better, then the recommendation would be two capsules at once, twice a day, about 6 -8 hours apart. StemEnhance starts working in about 30 minutes, the effects peak at about two hours, and trail off at about 6 -8 hours.

If anyone would like a copy of the published study that shows the active ingredients of StemEnhance boosting adult stem cell production, send me an email and I will forward the article to you.

  15. July 18, 2008 at 1:46 am

Hi Jen, i really appreciate you.
Adult Stem Cells are found all over the body, and contain the patient’s genetic sequences, which makes treatment less likely to have rejection or integration problems due to incompatible genes. But more over, these cells have passed through much of the sequencing already and are partially transformed into usable replacement cells.

    Hi Dr Joe,
I’d like to commend you on your decision to ‘follow your heart’ and use and get involved with Stem Cell Health. Having a brand surname like ‘Vitale’ sure means you need to defend it, with the Absolue BEST Wellness and Vitality products in the World. No matter how good a product/ service is, there will always be sceptics (always those that never try it or don’t follow the instructions properly!) and there may be a few raised eyebrows that you’ve joined an MLM company. (The ignorant may say a scheme/ pyramid) But as you and the intellect know MLM is simply a people HELPING people business for the good of the masses and not the few. As Zig Ziglar says ‘Helping many people to achieve what they want, you will always get what you want.’
The thing that impressed me most is that you did the research, took the product with zest and was objective about the results. The product WORKED for you and strictly on this basis you are 100% right to endorse it and share with others. There’s nothing worse than people reading a couple of negative reports, even though there are thousands of positive ‘Testimonials’ like yourself, and never having the faith to at least try. That’s why so many people fail in life. Without any faith, success is an illusion.
I myself have done vast research in the Wellness Industry and even though there are many many good products out there, ONLY 3 are really what I would label a ‘SUPER PRODUCT.’ One is the Stem Cell Health already discussed and another is one that will be launching in the UK (where I’m from) January 2009! This product has been a success in MLM terms in the US for the last 2 years and has recently launched in Japan, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Two of the Leaders in the US, I’m involved with are bringing it to the UK next year (esp. as UK and Europe will be the Biggest Market for this) with the view to launch later in Europe, Africa and Asia. We’ve just set up a system where UK people can now pre-enroll for only $35, ahead of the Launch next year and position themselves early in a Powerful Compensation Plan as well as others in US,Canada,Oz,Japan, that want to be involved in UK/Europe phenonemena. The info is here http://snurl.com/xpresenter and the link for the UK Launch is http://snurl.com/Prelaunch-UK Are you familiar with this SUPER PRODUCT as well and have you tried it?? Result?
    Blessings as always,
    Adrian.

    😮
Hello Joe, I have been a faithful reader and endorser for a few years now and I must say I am disappointed in this endorsement. I understand it has made you feel great and cured so many things. I also read the same articles, plus a few more. I have to say the risk is pretty great, especially and I remember this in the articles I read, if someone has a compromised liver or kidney. I do understand this company uses an extract and I get that you believe when a company changes its name that should be good enough. However, the first point, I sent them a note asking about this extract, the process and where they get their algae from and how they extract it. NO Answer as of yet. The second point, The company should take responsibility and post this information as should all dietary supplements and nutritional supplements. It is cases like this that cause the government to want to take charge of the situation.

And for everyone else, this country thrives on multilevel marketing and networking. It is the power of the people.

I must say I am glad to see so many take responsibility and research their products. Far too many do not.

Thank you and have a blessed day.

Just to further clarify a point, CellTech sold “Super Blue Green Algae”. That product was freeze dried, whole AFA. That is not the same company that is now StemTech, nor is it the same product. StemEnhance is produced through a patented mechanical separation process. StemEnhance is a 5:1 concentrate of two specific fractions of AFA. It concentrates the compounds having an effect on stem cells, along with other water-soluble compounds such as phycocyanin and PEA. This latter specific information is readily available on teh FAQ of the StemTech website.

I would like to say only one sentence and may be more
“Energy flows where attention goes ”
the other sentence is: nothing is bad and nothing is good , nothing is right and nothing is wrong, everything is idle until you add your story to it then it became bad or good or wrong or right it is what it is ,please go read the Spiritual marketing if you did not yet!!!

Beside that ,apparently you all did not digest the Attractor factor book , you all missed the point that your brain is the central unit and thoughts will generate feelings and the feelings will produce energy , and that energy will attract to you what you think about

if you believe that the Stemtech has a harmfull ingredients or whatever you call it ,then it will not work for you it will only attract problem to your health and if you beleive it is good then it will attract good health , I have a friend whom he eats 16 slices of Vegeterian pizza and he never puts on weight why ? is it a miracle? or his metabolism is that good? not at all ! he always believes that Vegetarian Pizza is healthy and give him energy and makes him recover so it shall be what he believes.

Now to you Joe , Have you ever consider Herbalife for energy boost and healing , they have a similar product called ,Cell Activator that includes a blend of essential nutrients, known as Krebs Cycle intermediates, plus select botanicals, to support cellular energy production. It is safe, natural and healthier check it out , I have tried it and I am using it , I got good results too

Regards and God bless you all
